The Danish Poet

Let's begin the last part of our summer course with something very interesting. The Danish Poet is an awarded short animated film in 2006, it even won the Oscar in that category, so, it´s really good, you'll see.
Here's what you are going to do:
1. Watch the film (it takes aproximately 15 minutes)
2. Answer these questions on the blog:
A. Discuss the subtle techniques used in the film. Which elements had an emotional impact? (The
delicate music and the lilting accent of the narrator, for example, give the film a kind of Sweetness and sense of pending romance.)
How did the filmmaker, Torill Kove, prevent the story from being too sweet? (She adds regular dashes of wickedly funny detail, e.g., the perilously sliding bovine, the madly growing hair, the dog that gets kicked regularly, the eventual love affair between that dog and the neighbor dog, etc.)
B. Talk about the elements of truth in the film: summers in Norway are notoriously rainy; many
Danes, Swedes and Norwegians are somewhat confused about their national beginnings; Sigrid
Undset was a writer who won the Nobel Prize for Literature.
Do you believe that Undset was really a distant relative of the filmmaker? Or is this a device
to tell a wonderful story? Does it matter? This should lead to a discussion about poetic license
and fact vs. fiction, when writers and filmmakers create an entertaining story based on real events and people.
C. Did you like it? why?
3. Write your own story. (in the another entry)

I think that the most important emotional elements are the voice and the tone that the narrator give to the history and the music that they use, because when the Danish poet returned to his city sad, because the girl was married, the music change and the piano is sad. It’s usual to see that in the movies use the music to give drama or represent a feeling.

The draws not are cute but some thing make the story funny, for example y loved the dog that many times is kicked because when the girl permitted that the dog stay by her it hug her and stay with her to wait the Danish poet.

I think that some element can be truth because sometimes the person or artist don’t have inspiration or a motive to write or do something, and the coincidence exist but some element of the movie are obviously fiction like the long hair of the girl, but it is only to make the history more interesting or funny.

Finally I liked the story, because is interesting and the dog is funny, I think that is a good video and is entertained.

The subtle techniques used in the film is A rainy ,the music and that he finds a girl whom he falls in love with, but alas, she is engaged to be married against her will with a local farmer who is the son of her fathers best friend.
the filmmaker prevent the story from being too sweet he adds funny details and the Things They can be really, the caricature is very , the way that death is talked .

Talk about the elements of truth in the film:the elements of truth is the place noruega an the climate, the things that it happens whit the people loved. Sigrid
Undset was a writer who won the Nobel Prize for Literature .

I like the film because is a sweet story about a long chain of seemingly random events that eventually. And the music and the Arrangements They are fantastic. This is good for the animations and big end ,the film is very creative and Very elegant details.

The elements had an emotional impact are the music, because give many changes in the type of music for each scene and the narrator’s accent makes it interesting the story.

Torill Kove, prevent the story from being too sweet with the scene the madly growing hair and the dog that gets kicked regularly; with these scenes makes the story is not totally romantic and these scene are necessary because in a story must have some drama, funny scene or something rare or not ordinary.

The elements of truth in the film are the summers in Norway are notoriously rainy, the writer won the Nobel Prize for literature, and of course the story because was an inspiration for writer the story how her parents met.

I like the story because is interesting and so funny with the cow, the neighbor dog and the guy that get out the boat with the bottles… and the voice with the accent of narrator I like so much.. and of course the story is original as well as drawings.
